Carolyn Ann Kelley Goyer, age 78, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of April 12, 2021, in Peoria, AZ. The oldest of two, Carolyn was born in Monahans, TX on June 10, 1942 to Clarence “Mike” and Evelyn (Olson) Kelley. In her early years, Carolyn’s summers were spent in delight at Camp Mary White in New Mexico either as a camper or a counselor, making lifelong friends and deepening her love of nature. Shortly after graduating with a B.S. in math from Texas Tech, Carolyn moved to Arizona, where she met her Husband, Robert “Bob” Goyer. She and Bob were married in June of 1967 and were blessed with three children. Although Carolyn was an early computer wiz, working at IBM in the days when computers were the size of tiny houses, she set aside her full-time career to focus on mothering. Her priorities were evident: she adored her family, lived with a light footprint (before it was fashionable to do so!), and followed her servant’s heart. Carolyn’s green thumb and artistic expressions brought beauty to their home, though she rarely acknowledged these talents. Friends and family knew Carolyn to be dependable, committed to fairness, kind, generous, easy to laugh, and ever willing to lend a helping hand. The queen of planning, efficiency, and productivity, Carolyn was masterful at balancing a full life, and those privileged to know and love her, benefited many times over from her “got-it-togetherness”. Although Carolyn lived in the desert the majority of her adult life, the mountains remained her happy place, and she made a point to spend as much of her summers surrounded by pines as possible. Carolyn is survived by her sons Kevin (Lumenaria) and Stephen (Kathy), daughter, Mary, sister, Eva Hobbs, and grandchildren Joseph, Sarah, and Charlie. Carolyn’s parents and husband preceded her in death. A joint celebration of life for Carolyn and Bob Goyer will be celebrated on Friday, July 30th, at 10:00am at Sunland Memorial and Cemetery.
