Barbara Anne Ruppert, aged 90, was born on March 21,1934, in Chicago, IL and passed away on Thursday October 10, 2024 in Peoria, AZ, Barbara was a woman of remarkable perseverance, who is remembered for her sharp mind, hope, faith, and problem-solving abilities. Throughout her life, she embraced responsibility, helping others and sharing in their life journeys.
Barbara’s educational journey began at St Alphonsus Grade School in Chicago, IL, followed by Alvernia, an all girls high school. She furthered her education at Harper Jr College in Palatine, IL and at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL. Barbara was a homemaker for many years, then worked as a para-legal secretary in Wheaton, IL, a trust secretary at Northern Trust Bank in Sun City, AZ, and in her retirement, was part of the Wells Fargo Silver Bullets Bank Employees.
Barbara’s Catholic faith was very important to her. Over the years she attended St Alphonsus Catholic Church in Chicago, IL, St James the Apostle Catholic Church in Glen Ellyn, IL, and St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Sun City, AZ. In her retirement years, she participated in bible study and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion to many Catholics in senior care centers in the Sun City, AZ area.
Her commitment to community service was evident through her roles as Cub Scout Leader, AARP Volunteer Tax Preparer, and Townhome Board Secretary. Barbara’s hobbies included bowling, playing cards, traveling, and watching westerns, particularly John Wayne films. Barbara enjoyed living at Sierra Winds Retirement Community in Peoria, AZ from 2014 - 2024, and enjoyed Volunteering at their library.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ruppert; sons Steven and Brian Ruppert; her parents Marie and Henry Pfeiffer; siblings Bernadine (Bill) Ciccone, Edward (Betty) Pfieffer, Clara Pfieffer, Henry (Shirley) Pfieffer, Rita (Hubert) Dederichs, Charles (Diane) Pfieffer, and Rosemary (John) Glowienke. She is survived by her children Susan (Andrew) Ouderkirk, Kathleen (Michael) Devereux, Martin (Cheryl) Ruppert, and Paul Ruppert; grandchildren Daniel (Jocelyn), Adam (Rachel), Danielle (Kevin), Matthew, Christopher, Sean (Chloe), Dominique (Garrett), and Mikayla (Damian); great-grandchildren Mazie, Maxx, Marc, Emelia, Adrian, Jayden, Opal, Vivian, Theo and Camden; and many loving nieces and nephews.
