Arthur was born on February 26,1949 in Los Angeles California.
Arthur was better known as “Art”,“Doc”, or “Dr Art” to all. Art was one of nine children, born to Father Albert M. Silva and Mother Cecelia (Dolly) Johnson Silva, who he is now reunited with in heaven.
Art is the second eldest in a family of nine, 2 brothers and 6 sisters. Art was independent and ambitus from a young age and was the quintessential big brother. A role model to all.
Art began his dentistry career at the early age of 18 working for Dr. Campbells Dentistry in Los Angeles, California. Quickly being promoted and educated in the area of prosthetics. Art was Regional Director of over 15 prosthetic laboratories, before pursuing his Bachelor of Science at George Brown University of Toronto. Art also instructed at Bates Technical College as he had a passion for learning as well as teaching others…. he was even considering completing his master’s degree recently.
Art continued his passion for prosthetics and was licensed in 3 states including Arizona.
Where he opened his 1st prosthetics office on 103rd Avenue in Sun City and transitioned his business to its current location over 27 years ago, which is known as DDL Dental today. DDL Dental has become extended family to the community of Sun City. Art gave all he had to residents he provided service to, he gave them all beautiful smiles and he took such pride in his work, he was what they called an “artist” respected and loved because of it.
Art had loved baseball and played as a young man, but once introduced to golf this quickly became his sport of choice and quite frankly his obsession. Art began golfing at the age of 25 and was an amazing golfer who took pride in challenging himself to be the best at everything he pursued. Art said many times his time on the golf course were some of the most, self-reflecting, inspiring and cherished moments.
Art was truly a special person soft spoken, kind, generous, dedicated to all the lives he touched, leaving such an enormous emptiness in the world and to all who loved him.
