Dr. Arthur George Riewald, Phd, age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 25, 2022. He was a resident of the Royal Oaks Care Center in Sun City, AZ at the time of his death.
Arthur was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 1, 1932. He received degrees from Wheaton College, Fuller Seminary, and Michigan State University. In 1960, while serving as Associate Pastor at Lake Avenue Congregational Church in Pasadena, CA, he recognized an emerging need for Christian psychologists, and enrolled in the Ph.D. program at MSU. After graduating in 1964, he founded a program for training clergy on Marriage Counseling in Oakland County, Michigan. Later, he joined the consulting firm Williams, Lynde & Williams where he traveled extensively to serve many corporate leaders until his retirement.
Arthur and his wife, Gwen, retired to Sun City West in 1990. He was active for many years at Grace Bible Church in Sun City, where he had the opportunity to enjoy his love of music by singing in the choir for 20 years, and singing in the men's quartet for 17 years. His faith in Jesus Christ as his savior was the core of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Emma (nee Hubrecht) Riewald, his brother Richard Riewald, and his grandson, David Riewald.
Arthur is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 67 years, Gwen (nee Gerig); his three children Dan (Betsy) Riewald, Dave (Claudia) Riewald, and Trish (Chris) Katz, his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the People of Faith Foundation.
Per his family's wishes a private service will be held at a later date.
