He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean; four children, Debbie Petersen, Steve Johnson, Lori Johnson, Barry Johnson; 3 brothers, Orval, Phillip, Charles and a sister Clara Syverson. He was predeceased by a brother Vernon. He also has 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Arnold graduated from Grand Forks High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Dakota. After serving 3 years in the Air Force, obtaining the rank of Captain, he began a career as a public works Professional Engineer in Iowa and Minnesota retiring after 37 years of service.
He enjoyed traveling, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday May 7, 2010 at the Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church.
