Alan Daniel Poland, age 48, a lifelong resident of Phoenix, passed away after a courageous battle with COVID-19 on January 8th, 2022. A loving husband and father, as well as veteran of our great country, Alan dedicated his life to the service of others, both personally and professionally.
Alan was born October 21st, 1973 in Phoenix to Alan Douglas Poland and Patrice Marie Nicholson. He graduated from Greenway High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from the University of Phoenix. His love for our country led him to join the U.S. Army, where he served as a cardiovascular specialist. His training and experience in the military prepared him well for his later work as Executive Territory Manager of Coronary and Endovascular Products for Asahi Intecc, a career at which he excelled.
Although his life was short, Alan lived it to the fullest and enjoyed many hobbies and activities alongside his family. He loved to spend any spare time he had golfing, hunting, playing video games on his phone, and enjoying NFL season (especially his favorite team, the Steelers). He was also a fantastic baker, and will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his delicious pies! He loved Metallica, the Beatles, and Dave Mason, and could be heard reiterating his favorite quote from time to time, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born, and the day you find out why.” (Mark Twain) He loved the Lord and he loved his country.
Family was the most important thing in the world to Alan. Following the untimely death of his first wife, Heather, from cancer at the age of 21, Alan met and fell in love with Michelle, on a Southwest flight from Chicago back home to Arizona. 23 years and three children later, Alan and Michelle’s love and commitment to one another has stood the test of time, and it always will. Alan was a wonderful husband and dedicated father to Alyssa, Austin and Alexandria. His entire family misses him dearly.
Alan is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Michelle Poland, his children, Alyssa, Austin, and Alexandria Poland, his parents, Alan and Patrice Poland, his brothers Adam and Andrew Poland, and his best friend, Dr. Parag Rami. He is preceded in death by his first spouse, Heather Wilson Poland, whom he always kept close in his heart and memory.
