Ronald (Ron) G. Geisler passed away in Tacoma on January 25, 2011 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on March 25, 1955, in Calgary, Alberta Canada, and at eighteen became a U.S. citizen. When he was a teenager his family moved to the Pacific Northwest where he fell in love with the beauty of the area and chose to live there the rest of his life. He attended Barlow High School in Gresham, OR, and while competing on the school’s ski team, he met the love of his life, Diane. After graduating from Oregon State, he and Diane married and hiked the Washington Pacific Crest Trail on their honeymoon. During their 33 years together they had two children, climbed mountains, built houses, hiked, skied, bicycled and enjoyed all that the area had to offer. Ron spent his career in the forestry industry and was last employed by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources where he worked with a wonderful and supportive team. He is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Michael (Danielle) Geisler and a precious granddaughter Evelyne, of Lake Tapps; daughter Jennifer Geisler of Puyallup, his Mother, Anne Geisler of Gresham, OR and his sister Cindy Geisler (Mark Darrach) of Bainbridge Island. The celebration of Ron's life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 the afternoon of February 12, 2011 at the Tacoma Nature Center, 1919 S. Tyler Street, Tacoma, WA 98405 (253)591-6439. A short program will begin at 2:00 pm. Please join Ron's family to celebrate. There will be photos, stories to tell, food to share (it's a potluck) and, fitting with the outdoor life that Ron loved, the Nature Center has trails to explore and enjoy. If you would like to make a donation to pancreatic cancer research, a memorial fund has been established for Ronald G. Geisler at: www.lustgarten.org.
