Carrie Lynne Volk 1962-2014 devoted wife to James Volk and loving mother to her daughter Danielle and son Zachary. Passed away Monday March 24th to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Carrie was born in Victorville Ca. and moved to a small farm in Sumner in 1973. She attended Sumner High School and graduated in 1980. In 1989 married her high school sweetheart Jim, Graduated from the University of Washington 1988 with a Bachelor degree in psychology and continued her education earning a Physical Therapy degree from the University of Washington in 1990, and specialized in wound care. She entered the work force and went to work as a clinician climbing the corporate ladder to Director of Physical Medicine at Auburn Regional Medical Center for the next 24 years. Her achievements are even more amazing considering she battled with brain tumors since 1982 hemomangiopericystoma which robbed her of nearly all her sight but her goals where always very clear to her. Over her 32 year battle with her cancer multiple surgeries, procedures and trial medications were done but she succumb to her cancer on March 24. She passed away with her family by her side and in the comfort of her own home. Carrie was a fighter and an inspiration to many people both family and friends. She lead the fight to assist in finding a cure she organized and lead Auburn Regional Medical Center's Relay for Life campaign for several years. But despite her best efforts she succumb to her cancer before a cure could be found. As a mother she was wonderful and not to just her own children but theirs friends as well, she was patient and kind and would help anyone at a drop of a hat despite all the issues she dealt with daily. Despite her limitations she enjoyed shopping, camping, skiing and gardening. She had unconditional love for all. She is survived by a large extended family which includes her Mother Polly Hall, Brother Jim and 2 sisters Sheri McKern and Jodi Cullens. She will be missed everyday but now lives through her children. Carrie's memorial service will be held Saturday April 5th at Sunrise Baptist Church at 1pm in Puyallup reception to follow
