He was a native of Shreveport and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 79 years. Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired after 36 years of service with Citgo as a Safety Inspector and after his retirement, he began working with his son alligator hunting and also on his farm working cattle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing his grass, and driving tractors. He also loved collecting coins and had been a member of a local coin club.
Survivors include his sons, Glenn Watts and wife, Cathy of Sulphur, Gregg Watts and wife, Bonnie of Carlyss, and Bruce Watts and wife, Phyllis of Carlyss; seven grandchildren, Eric Watts, Robert Watts, Jenny Watts Bourgeois, Laura Miller Geroux, Ricky Guidry, Denee Guidry Quebodeaux, and Debra Guidry Wilmoth; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jenel Marie Granger Watts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 23, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Timothy Goodly will officiate. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery in Vinton under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
