She was a native of Mermentau and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 55 years. Shirline enjoyed painting, gardening, cross stitching, and spending time with her family, especially the "lights of her life," her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Max Broussard and wife, Teresa of Hackberry, and Pam Broussard Ippolito and husband, Billy of Toms River, New Jersey; one brother, James Romero of Mermentau; two step-sisters, Elaine Swier and Yvonne Young; and three grandchildren, Reese, Ross, and Remi Broussard. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Broussard.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a scripture service at 6 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family would like to give special thanks to Mae Miller and Dale and Carey Reed.
