She was a native of Manifest, Louisiana and was a longtime resident of Sulphur, graduating from Sulphur High School. Jean was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur and served as Secretary for the Children's Department for over 30 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #209. She belonged to the National Campers and Travelers. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Richard L. Stout; three sons, Richard "Dickey" Stout and wife, Debbie of Westlake, Jim Stout of Sulphur, and Ted Stout and wife, Becky of Gillis; one brother, Lawrence Edward Clark of Sulphur; grandchildren, Camae Rhodes and husband, Paul of Ragley, Casey Stout and wife, Fran of Moss Bluff, and Ricky Stout of Sulphur; step-grandchildren, Brandon Martin and Jared Martin; and great-grandchildren, Carson Rhodes, Heidi Stout, Jette Stout, Raylee Rhodes, and Daltin Stout. She is preceded in death by her parents, Langston and Audrey Clark; three sisters, Beverly Harget, Doris Willis, and Audrey Beth Foley.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 8, in First Baptist Church of Sulphur. Dr. David Holder and Dr. Ronnie Burke will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the time of service Sunday in the church.
