Born in Poplarville, Mississippi on September 22, 1933, Sarah was a resident of Sulphur since 1962. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Sulphur. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and rocking the many babies in her family. Sunday family dinners were a very important part of her life. She welcomed all and would frequently say "The manna from Heaven will not disappoint" and amazingly enough, it never did.
Survivors include seven children, Donald Johnson and wife, Sue, Barbara Truxillo and husband, Ronald, Carolyn Benoit and husband, Dana, all of Sulphur, Delana Odom of Mauriceville, Texas, Beth LaFauci and husband, Keith of Sulphur, Bridgett Chapman and husband, Bruce of Carlyss, and Ricky Johnson and wife, Sandie of Sulphur; twenty-one grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willis Hayward Johnson; daughter, Deborah Gayle Johnson; son, Larry Hayward Johnson; one brother; and four sisters.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 20, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronald Sherer will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
