CARLYSS – Roy Lee Lyons, Sr., 80, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in a local hospital with his family at his side. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and retired from Firestone Polymers with 37 years of service. He was a kind, funny and outgoing man that would light up a room with his smile. He enjoyed fishing with his buddy and best friend Max Fontenot, he also enjoyed dancing with his wife and all activities with his family and friends. He was loved by his family and his memory will be cherished forever.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Dubard Lyons, six children, including: two sons, Roy “Lee” Jr.(Carolee) of Sulphur and Billy(Tina) of Carlyss; four daughters, Cynthia (Ricky) Thibodeaux of Grand Lake, Beverly (George) Waldmeier, LaDonna (Ronald)Leger, and Rhonda (Russell)Leger all of Carlyss; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Mae Waite of Carlyss, and Ethaline Potts of Hemphill, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Edith Lyons; one son, Warren Lee Lyons; and sister, Martha Lou Vaussine.
Funeral Services will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-10 pm Friday, May 22nd, and will resume at 10am until time of service at 2pm. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South of Carlyss.
