He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur and a graduate of Sulphur High School. Ronald was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church where he was involved in the Legion of Mary, he served as a Eucharistic Minister and altar server, and helped with the church building maintenance. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his three children, Joseph D. Viator and wife, Cami, Cindy Covert and husband, Mark, and Keith Viator and wife, Lacy, all of Sulphur; his three siblings, Larry Viator and Clara Dobay, both of Houston, Texas, and Ruth Viator of Sulphur; five grandchildren, Ashley and Brooke Covert, Joseph Daniel Viator Jr, Scott Evans, and Brittney Evans; two great-grandchildren, Kellin Viator and Nevaeh Burke; and the mother of his children, Carol Wright. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Katie Bell Viator.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 11, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Winiarski will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Friday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a Cursillo rosary service, and from 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
