He was a native of Elizabeth and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1971, coming from Oakdale. Roger was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and breeding poultry. He retired from Citgo after 36 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Linda Giles of Carlyss; his mother, Marcelene Giles of Memphis, Tennessee; four sons, Ross Giles of Sulphur, Justin Giles and wife, Melissa of Oberlin, Adrian Giles of Sulphur, and Bryan Husers and wife, Myranda of Lynnwood, Washington; two daughters, Lawana Giles of Sulphur and Pamela Husers of Lake Charles; one brother, Randy Giles of Memphis, Tennessee; and ten grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Buford Giles; and his sister, Reba Prudhomme.
His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 17, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Dr. David Holder will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Charles. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
