He was a native of Long Island, New York and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 30 years. He was the owner and operator of Cryer Custom Woodworking in Sulphur. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as participating in and attending car shows, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Contraband Corvette Club.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda Delia Cryer of Sulphur; his children, James Cryer of Sulphur, Robert Anthony Cryer and wife, Jeanne of Sulphur, and Cheryl Kelly and husband, Patrick of DeQuincy; and his grandchildren, Christina Cryer, Nicholas Kelly, Anthony Cryer, and Hunter Kelly. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Robert Cryer and Elizabeth Miller Cryer; and his brother, George Cryer.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor David Richmond will officiate. Burial will be in Riley Smith Memorial Park in DeQuincy. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home.
