Rene J. Broussard, Sr., 84, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in his home.
Rene was a Sulphur native and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Sulphur, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed camping and traveling.
Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl Oden of Austin, Texas, and Carol Ann Tolbert and her husband David of Huntsville, Alabama; son Rene "Butch" Broussard, Jr.; sister, Norma Hoffpauier; brother Eldess Broussard; 7 grandchildren and a multitude of great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Broussard; and daughter Nancy Broussard.
His funeral will be at10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Scott Desomeaux will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday with a scripture service at 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday, all at the funeral home.
