Mervin Sonny Wilbur Myers

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean Myers; son Martin Douglas of Lake Charles; daughter Debra Jean King and her husband Don of Sulphur; sisters Avis Musgrove and her husband Paul of Sulphur, and Mittie Cryer of Sulphur; grandchildren Donald Britt King, Jr., Kacie Erin King and Mervin Ryan King; and great-grandson Corbin Paul Schmeltz.

He is preceded in death by his sister Lenora Cryer; brother Marvin; daughter Janelle and granddaughter Jana.

Sonny was born in Fields, LA to Hugh and Lucy Myers. He enjoyed cross-country camping trips and attending festivals of his favorite music, bluegrass. He always said how proud he was of his grandkids. After 36 years at Olin he retired full-time to his woodshop. Hundreds of local residents still swing in his homemade porch swings and rock in his rocking chairs. When not in his woodshop his favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday April 25th at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral home officiated by Rev. Lonnie Gothrup. Burial will be in Fields at Bilbo Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-9 P.M. Tuesday and 8-10 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
