She was a native of Mer Rouge, Louisiana and had been a resident of Sulphur since the 1950's. Maribel taught for many years at a local school. She was an active member of Henning Memorial United Methodist Church in Sulphur. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Stewart Ellender and wife, Diana of Carlyss, David Ellender and wife, Tracy of Sulphur, Matthew B. Ellender and wife, Brenda of Mobile, Alabama, and Sally Ellender Wright and husband, Craig of Cumming, Georgia; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Ellender; her parents, George Thomas Stewart and Jimmie Lee Stewart; and her siblings.
A private graveside service was held by her family on Saturday, September 23 in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev.
