He was a native of Bosco, La., and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 60 years. Leza was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran and a member of VFW Post #8107 in Sulphur. He retired from the City of Sulphur, where he had received the “Employee of the Year” award in 1991. He then worked as a crossing guard at E.K. Key Elementary School. Leza enjoyed shrimping, crabbing, dancing, listening to music and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shirley Ann Comeaux of Sulphur; his children, Gayle Broussard and husband Nat of Sulphur, Jennifer Fontenot of Sulphur, and Glenn Comeaux and wife Melissa of Belle Chasse; his siblings, Lee Stine, Ledia Moss and Willie Comeaux; nine grandchildren, Chris Broussard, Jillian Fetters and husband, Rob, Clinton Fontenot and wife, Amy, Brooke Fontenot, Anthony Fontenot, Cade LeBoeuf, Spencer Comeaux, Wyatt Comeaux and Talon Comeaux; and four great-grandchildren, Noah Fontenot, Parker Fontenot, Brogan Fontenot and Astin Fetters.
A Celebration of Leza’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Jody Barrilleaux, Celebrant will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home. Leza’s wishes were to not have flowers or plants for his service.
