Mr. Bowers was born in Roanoke, Louisiana on September 22, 1919. He served in the U.S. Navy from December 1942 to December 1945 and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
He was a member of Henning Memorial Methodist Church. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and helping others.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ida Bowers. He is survived by two daughters, Ann Faul and husband Lynn of Baker, Louisiana and Mary Courmier and husband Wayne of Stockbridge, Georgia; three sons, Joe Bowers and wife Karen of Carlyss, Larry Bowers and wife Terry of Lake Charles, and Ronnie Bowers and wife Debbie of Sulphur; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service in honor of Lawrence’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Henning Memorial Methodist Church.
