Larry A McIlwain

Larry was born in Pickwick, Tennessee on April 30, 1937 to J. C. McIlwain and Sally Duncan-McIlwain. He lived most of his life in Sulphur, Louisiana. Larry graduated from Sulphur High in 1955. Larry was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended LSU and McNeese State University. He married Martha Ann Welborn-McIlwain in 1963. He worked as an Iron Worker through the Local Operators Union No. 678. He then worked at Citgo for 28 years and retired in 1997. Larry was a Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Sulphur, Louisiana No. 424. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Ann; daughter Lisa McIlwain-Haynes and husband David from Sulphur; son Randy McIlwain and wife Amy from Mauriceville, TX. He leaves behind six grandsons; Brandon, Hayden, and Colin Haynes, Cameron, Colton, and Carson McIlwain. Larry also leaves behind a brother, Roger McIlwain of Whitehouse, TX; sister, Barbara McIlwain-Williams and husband Byron from Arlington, TX; numerous Sisters-n-law, Brothers-n-law, Nieces and Nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Sulphur, 401 South Huntington St., Sulphur, LA 70663.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. Friday in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home and will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday until time of service at 11 a.m. Rev. Tom Bruce and Dr. Andy Buckley will officiate.
