Larry Dwayne Derrick, 82, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at home surrounded by his loved ones after an eight month battle with Cholangiocarcinoma. Larry was born in Kilbourne, Louisiana on March 15, 1942. He started his career as a draftsman in West Monroe then Baton Rouge, he later transferred to Cost Control in Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas where he retired in 2008. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, collecting coins, creating art of all types, reading, watching sports and westerns. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Euna Derrick; son, Jason Derrick; and a brother, Calvin Derrick.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 36 years, Linda Derrick of Sulphur; daughters, Elizabeth Zacharias and husband Andrew of Houston, Texas, Kathryn Chatwin of Webster, Texas, and Angela Derrick of Sulphur; grandchildren, Evan Derrick, Carlee Derrick, Cydney Derrick, Aiyana Chatwin, Brayden Chatwin, Levi Zacharias and Gus Zacharias; and a brother, Ledell Derrick of West Monroe.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Houston River Baptist Church. Pastor Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Visitation will be in the church from 12 pm until the time of service. Burial will follow at Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery. Pall Bearers will be Jerry Koonce, Chris Derrick, Jamey Derrick, Evan Derrick, Brayden Chatwin, Andrew Zacharias, and Honorary Pallbearer Ledell Derrick.
