Kyle was a graduate of Sulphur High School. He was drafted by the LA Dodgers and played in their organization until being drafted by the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam . He returned home and resumed playing baseball for the Dodgers. After a few years he began working at Firestone. In 2006 he moved to Toledo Bend where he spent his retirement years fishing.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Cele Carlin; five children, Kirk Carlin of Lake Charles, Kimberly Carlin of Sulphur, DeAnn Herbel (Dene) of Millsap, TX, Ronnie Hudson (Dal) of Argyle, TX, Amy McCarley (Mike) of Blue Ridge, TX; three brothers, Donald Wilbert Carlin (Joan) of Houston, TX, Kenneth Ray Carlin (Charlotte) of Carlyss, and Gerald Lynn Carlin of Lake Charles; one sister, Judy Carlin (J.B.) of Rosepine; six grandchildren, Sydney, Sierra, and Cade Herbel, Seth, Megan, and Ashley McCarley
His preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Artie Carlin, brother Billy Wayne Carlin, and an infant son, Kevin Carlin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home, 2051 E. Napoleon St. Sulphur, La. 70663. Junior Ledoux will officiate. Visitation will be held 4 - 7 p.m. , Friday in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be Sunday in Fairview Cemetery of Millsap, TX.
