She was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur and a graduate of Sulphur High School. Kristi enjoyed arts and crafts projects, especially knitting, quilting, and scrapbooking. She was also a "foodie" visiting different food venues to experience different types of foods with her husband.
Survivors include her husband, James Mathis of Sulphur; her children, William Mathis of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Megan Mathis of Beaumont, Texas; her mother, Lois Gatlin Szaniszlo and husband, Andy of Sulphur; her siblings, Steven Gatlin, Sr. and wife, Anita of Carlyss and Clint Gatlin and wife, Cindy of Sulphur; her grandchildren, Kloie Henson and Mia Hamby; her nephew and nieces, Steven Gatlin, Jr, Jessica Gatlin Richard, Brooke Gatlin, and Blair Gatlin; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Harley, Anna, Tori, Elizabeth and Cody Gatlin, and Raegan and Remington Richard. She is preceded in death by her father, Marion Ray "Skeeter" Gatlin.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Maurice Landry will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home.
