He was born in Sulphur on February 4,1942, and had lived in Carlyss most of his life. The way a person leaves this earth does not define who they were. Kenneth loved fishing and hunting in his early years, and even into the first few years of his retirement at the age of 62, from being a tug boat captain. Then he was done with that and these last years of his life he Absolutely Loved "Cowboying" as we called it, with the Buryl Baty Cattle Company.
He was loved by his family who will greatly miss him, Elaine Martin Tyler, wife of 52 years; his daughters, Jody Barrilleaux and husband Dwayne (who was Kenneth's best friend), and Susan Tyler, all of Carlyss; his son Kenneth "Kenny" Tyler Jr. and wife, Maritza of Palm Springs, Florida; his mother-in-law, Yolande Doucet; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and his sister, Myrtle Latimer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Nancy Tyler; three brothers, Ray, JC and Robert Tyler; and a sister, Helen Jean Robertson.
His Celebration of Life Ceremony will be at 2 pm Monday, April 6, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home with burial at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at funeral home and will resume on Monday at 10am until the time of service. His daughter, Jody Barrilleaux, will honor her dads memory by officiating his service.
