Karrie Lynn Thomas of Sulphur passed peacefully surrounded by family at 11:15 A.M. on Monday, June 7, 2021. Karrie was born on March 28, 1959 to Norman & Helen Thomas of Sulphur. She was the oldest child of four siblings.
Karrie was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Godmother. She loved spending time with friends and family and although she did not have much, she was always willing to give what she could. She was a 1977 Sulphur High School Graduate. During her time there, she loved playing softball, where she was the pitcher for the team from 1973-1977. She continued to play fast pitch & slow pitch recreationally for years afterwards. Karrie loved to cook and feed her family, to which she would never disappoint. She loved all things LSU no matter the sport! She loved watching westerns, soap operas, and Family Feud on television. She also loved listening to country music, especially Alan Jackson, and spending time outdoors.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Helen B. Thomas of Carlyss; her four children, Burk Walker IV of Carlyss, Krystal Landry (Justin) of Ragley, Dustin Walker (Sarah) of Carlyss, Frank Byrd Jr. of Oakdale; eight grandchildren, Caleb and Bella Walker, Luke and Lane Landry, Finley and Sadie Walker, Emersyn and Elizabeth Byrd; her siblings, Norman Thomas Jr., Randy Thomas (Bridget), Kristi Higginbotham (Mike) all of Carlyss; her goddaughter, Emily Higginbotham; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father, Norman Thomas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. and will resume from 8-10 a.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. led by Jody Barrilleaux. Interment will be in Mimosa Pines South Cemetery at a later date.
