She was a native of Mamou and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1997, after living in Iowa for many years. She loved growing roses and working in her yard. Joyce loved her family dearly but her greatest joy was her grand and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling and was very adventurous. She was a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle in Sulphur.
Survivors include her four daughters, Jane Comp of Sulphur, Linda Cronan of Kinder, Pamela Davis and husband, Robert of Sulphur, and Ann Baker and husband, Ken of Moss Bluff; her sister, Betty Moser and husband, Joe of San Antonio, Texas; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gurvis J. Sonnier.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, in Lighthouse Tabernacle in Sulphur. The Revs. Allan Upton and Jon Hair will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the church. The family would like give special thanks to Brighton Bridge Hospice, especillay her nurse, Sandi for the tender care and love given to Joyce and family during this time, also the staff of High Hope Care Center.
