She was a native of Vinton where she graduated from Vinton High School and was a longtime resident of Sulphur. Joyce enjoyed going to the casino and taking care of her cats, and had previously enjoyed gardening, especially plants and flowers.
She is survived by her son, Ricky Hayes of Lafayette; her former son-in-law, Christopher H. Benoit of Vinton; nephew, Mikel Laughlin of Chicago, Illinois; and a niece, Michelle Laughlin Ishee of Vinton. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Ray Hayes; her parents, Oran Joseph Laughlin and Agnes LeBoeuf; her daughter, Donna Sue Hayes Benoit; and her brother, Clifford Laughlin and wife, Judith Laughlin.
A Celebration of Joyce's Life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 14, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Jody Barrilleaux, Celebrant. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from noon until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
