He was a native of Church Point and lived in Sulphur since 1955. He attended Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He was lead singer with Latch and the Midnighters in the 1960s. Herbert was an avid golfer and participated in Little League Baseball with his sons. He was a member of the Home Builders Association. He was owner and operator of All American Building Systems for 44 years. Herbert was a charter member of Bayou Oaks Country Club and was a member of the Home Builders Association. He was a graduate of the Sulphur High Class of 1962.
Survivors include his daughter Elizabeth Latiolais of Houston; sons Mitchell Latiolais and Keith Latiolais, both of Sulphur; sister Gail Leger and her husband Dean, Sr.; grandchildren Kristopher Chas, Brittnie Nicole, Kelsey Brooke and Logan Luke Latiolais; companion Marilyn Clark and her children Rebekah, Matthew and Jordan; best friend Johnny Stanley and his family; the mother of his children Patsy Roy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Herbert Latiolais, Sr., and Zora Latiolais.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Rev. Gerry Boulanger will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary at 7 p.m. and from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, all in the funeral home.
