Joseph was known to his family and friends as Junior, was raised in Bell City. He served in the United States Air Force spending his service time in Japan. During his stint in the Air Force, he was awarded the distinguished award of "Airman of the Year" in the Far East. After his military service, Junior and his family moved to Sulphur were they made their home. He was an avid golfer and loved to garden. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America as the assistant Scout Master, Troup 83. Junior was employed at Himont as an operator and supervisor.
Junior is survived by his wife Netina (Nettie) Duhon of 59 years and 11 months of Sulphur; three sons, Mark Edward Duhon and wife Rhonda of Sulphur, Jonathan Lee Duhon and wife Bambi of Lake Arthur, David Paul Duhon and wife Anne of Lake Charles; one daughter, Christine Netina Steinert and husband Richard of Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Laine and Paige Steinert, Laura Duhon, Ryan Duhon, Jessica Duhon, David Paul Duhon II and Alexander Duhon; two great grandchildren, Emma and Abby Stevens; one brother, Jimmy Duhon of Sulphur, he is preceded in death by family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, in the Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss. The Reverend Luke Krzanowski, M.S. will officiate. A rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday, July 14, in the Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home, A. J. Boullion will officiate. Burial will be in the Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss.
