He was a native of Baker and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 60 years. Joseph was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #8322, I.B.E.W. Local 861, and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from CitCon in 1983 after many years of service, and upon his retirement, he spent most of his time serving his church. Raymond enjoyed camping and listening to music.
Survivors include two sisters, Maude Shows of Darrow, and Vivian Whittington of Sulphur; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by four sisters, Mary, Elmer, Irene, and Bessie; and four brothers, Roy, Leo, Jesse, and Nap.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. A scripture service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, followed by a rosary service led by the Knights of Columbus. The family would like to thank special friends, Mike Danahay, Ron Bimle, and Al Guerrini, and also staffs of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, Cornerstone Hospital, Holly Hill Care Center, and Christus Hospice for their excellent care of Joseph.
