

He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and was a member of American Legion Post #179 and V.F.W. Post #8107.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Marie Howerton of Sulphur; loved daughter, Linda Howerton; son, Garry Fox who he loved dearly and who was always there to look after him; other sons, David St. Louis of Sulphur, James St. Louis and Garry St. Louis of Pembroke, Canada; always loved and cherished by his grandson, David Kearns and wife, Laura Lee, whom he looked forward to his calls when LSU or the Saints were playing; great-grandchildren, Lochlan and Maddie; granddaughter, Tosha Black and husband, Brian; he was loved very much by his great-grandson, Max, the light of his heart. He is also survived by his other grandchildren, George St. Louis and wife, Rose, Jed St. Louis and partner, Chris, Toni Resal and husband, Reese, Connie Stevens and husband, Harley, Katie Meinster, Angie Franks, Richie McFey, and Josh, Lee and Collin St. Louis; great-grandchildren, Ronin, Maddie, Samuel, Omi, Henry, Brooklan, Bradan, and Kyle.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The family would like to thank John's family doctor, Dr. Ken Thomas and his friend, Dr. Walter Ledet for looking after him so well and also his friends, Bob and Rita Anderson, Harry Ladas, and David Melanchuk.
