Janice Sanders

Sulphur- Janice C. Shreve Sanders, 73, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in her residence.

She was a native of Lake Charles and had been a resident of Sulphur for about six years. Janice enjoyed being outdoors, especially doing yardwork, and also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels. She volunteered as an election commissioner in Calcasieu Parish. She was affectionately known as "Mom" to everyone who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter, Nena Sewell; a close family friend whom she considered a daughter, Terri Foreman; sister, Jean Shreve Steele and husband, Gene, all of Sulphur; grandson, Trent Brady; nephew, Jason Steele and family; and niece, Paula Hicks. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sanders; a daughter, Christi Brady; sister, Sandra Shreve Hicks; and a nephew, Bo Hicks.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 6, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
