He was born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana and had lived in Houston, Texas for many years before moving to Sulphur over 30 years ago. He was the Chief Financial Officer with Christus St. Patrick Hospital and previously with Texas Children's Hospital, Texas Heart Institute, and St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston, Texas. James was with the Pearland Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years, serving as the Captain. He was very involved in the Dad's Club, helping with youth sports, and also with NHRA Drag Racing and NHRA Junior Drag Racing for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, construction, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Alice Truett of Sulphur; his son, James Edward Truett of Sulphur; and his grandson, Nicholas David Truett. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mildred Truett; his sister, Linda Truett; and a grandson, Tyler James Truett.
A Celebration of James' Life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson's Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and from noon until the time of service Monday in the funeral home.
