Jay lived in Sulphur since 1986, moving from Westlake. He attended Houston River Baptist Church. He loved hunting and fishing. Jay retired from the US Air Force in 1969, and from Gulf States Utilities in 1994.
Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Margie Reeves; children, Valerie Woods of Westlake, Ken Reeves and wife Cindy of Westlake, Kathy Newton and husband Bill of Keller, Texas, Pam Brustrom and husband Johnny of Kingston, Arkansas, David Reeves of Westlake, Brenda Mallett and husband David of Welsh, and Joe Mallett and wife April of Welsh; sister Lena Carper of Oregon: brother Dale Reeves of Austin, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Reeves.
Pallbearers will be Ken Reeves, David Reeves, Joe Mallett, Dustin Mallett, Todd Mallett, Dylan Mallett, Bill Newton and Dave Bushnell.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial. The Rev. Clifton LeJeune will officiate. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Thursday and from 8-10 a.m. Friday, all at the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
