Hazel Marie Gallegos, 86, of Hackberry, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Holly Hill Nursing Home in Sulphur, Louisiana. She was born to her late parents, Phillip and Anola Simon on July 3, 1936. She was a great cook, and in her younger years loved gardening and taking care of her yard, decorating her house for the Holidays, and loved taking care of her family, which she always put first. She attended Mass at the Catholic Deaf Center when she was able.
She is survived by one son, Gabe Gallegos (Beverly) of Carlyss, Louisiana; three daughters, Gloria Ellender (Freddie) of Sulphur, Louisiana, Juanita Nunez (Carroll) of Hackberry, Louisiana, and Marguerita Gallegos of Sulphur, Louisiana; three sisters, Ruby Constance of Carlyss, Louisiana, Barbara East of Sulphur, Louisiana, and Vernice Waggoner of Sulphur, Louisiana; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Hazel is preceded by her loving husband of 56 years, Perfecto Gallegos, Sr.; her parents; two sons, Perfecto Gallegos, Jr. and Ricky Gallegos; numerous brothers and sisters; along with her granddaughter, Latisha Tingler.
A Celebration of Hazel's life will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 1:00 pm, with Father Aubrey Guilbeau officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 9:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at New Hackberry Cemetery in Hackberry, Louisiana.
