She will be remembered as a devoted Mom of six children who always tended to the needs of others, and was always willing to do more than her fair share for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her world. Glenda was an awesome cook; everyone looked forward to Sunday family dinners. She and her husband loved to dance, it was their favorite pastime. Glenda held a special space in her heart for her husband’s nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Marie.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Steve Ellender and wife, Ramona of Carlyss; three daughters, Lisa Gay Johnson of Lake Charles, Melissa Ann Moss and husband, Randy of Sulphur, and Cheri Lynn Manard of Sulphur; daughter-in-law, Andrea Ellender of Sulphur; sisters, Dorothy Jane “Coonie” Lawton and husband Jack of Carlyss, and Joyce Harlan of Tyler, Texas; brother, Eddie Sonnier, Jr. of Carlyss; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Tasha, Shelly, Josh, Monica, Luke, Allie, and Kenzie; and seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Milford Ellender; two sons, Patrick Kent Ellender and Mark Randal Ellender; parents, Eddie Sonnier, Sr. and Irene Smith Sonnier; sons-in-law, Rodney Manard, Gary Johnson, and Corky William Thibodeaux; granddaughter, Julie Johnson; and sister-in-law, Sally Sonnier.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm Sunday, September, 28, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Eddie Richard will officiate.
