Evelyn was a native of Hackberry and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hackberry. She loved spending time with her family, but she especially loved her role as "Maw Maw T" which is what her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her. Evelyn's relationship with Jesus and her family was the most important things to her and she will never be forgotten.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Karen Orgeron (Rameaux) of Vinton, Sharon Johnson, Gayla Thomason both of Hackberry, Rhonda Marcel (Eric) of Mamou, and Melinda Turner of Houma; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, David Welch, Wayne Welch, and Donald Welch; sister, Grace Simon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin from 10:00 a.m. on this Thursday until time of service at First Baptist Church in Hackberry.
Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Hackberry with Rev. Monte Rowse officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Orgeron, Kevin Orgeron, Sharod Rodrigue, Devin Rodrigue, Eddie Bird, Brett Bird, and Russell Trahan. Burial will follow in Hackberry Cemetery in Hackberry under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial.com.
