Elaine was born in Henrietta, Texas and has resided in Sulphur for 80 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, Town & Country Garden Club and the Daylily Society. She was honored as Catholic Daughter of the Year in 1980. Elaine owned and operated Elaine’s Cottage of Beauty for over 25 years. She traveled extensively, was an avid doll collector, gifted seamstress and loved gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, ”Hob” Nail; parents, Arthur and Amy Planchard; sons, Douglas, Donald, David and Darrell Nail; siblings, Louine James, Yvonne Trainer, Margie Book, Norma Gregory and Roy Lynn Planchard.
She is survived by her children, Dan Nail (Linda) of Thibodaux, Martie Hernandez (Dennis), Amy Grimes (R.J.) all of Sulphur, and Merne Barnes (Glenn) of Brusly, LA; brother, A.J. Planchard of Sulphur; grandchildren, Dwayne Young, Doug and Jay Hernandez, Andy, Helen and John Grimes, Lindsey and Kelsey Waite, and James and Triche Nail; and eight great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Tuesday, June 30 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South. Visitation will be held 4 – 9pm Monday with a Scripture Service/Rosary at 6pm and will resume at 8am Tuesday in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
