Earl was a Sulphur native and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School and served in the US Navy from 1956-1960 and served on the aircraft carrier, USS Lexington. He retired from Pipefitters Local 106. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, serving as a Lay Minister of Communion and as a Lector. Earl was a member of the Knight of Columbus council 3015, leaving there to become a charter member of new council 8322. He was a 4th degree member of council 2087. He was active in the community, coaching Little League, football, baseball, and basketball.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Murl Richard Frederick; daughter Stephanie Ann Grabowski and Gilford Warner of Sulphur; sons, Anthony Joseph "Tony" Frederick and wife Margaret of Carlyss, and Scott Raymond Frederick and wife Sharon of Raceland; step mother Shirley Breedlove; brothers Robert James Frederick and Louis Joseph Frederick, half brothers Donald Martin and wife Racheal, Tony Frederick and Steven Frederick; half sister Ramona Beritiech; grandchildren, Andrew James Frederick, Anthony Joseph Frederick, Jessica Ann Grabowski, Lauren Nicole Grabowski, Sadie LeBlanc, and Raven LeBlanc; great grandchildren, Braylin Marie Frederick, Adaleigh Alice Grabowski, Cavin Michael Tranthem, Drake Allen Bourgeois; godchild, Lee Richard, his wife Dana and their children, Brooke, Grant, Sean, Ben, Blaise, Faith, Grace and Luke, from Carlyss; sister in law Diana Trahan and husband Billy Ray; brothers in law Robert Richard and his wife Barbara, Dave Richard and wife Kaylynn, and Glenn Richard and wife Sally.
He is preceded in death by his father E.J. "Shine" Frederick, mother Belle Martin and husband Percy, half brother Milton Martin; father and mother in law A.J. and Bertha Richard; and sister in law Carolyn Richard.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Scott Desormeaux and Deacon Bud Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday with a scripture service at 6 p.m. with a rosary service immediately following in the funeral home, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday in the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Legionaries of Christ College, 475 Oak Ave, Cheshire, CT 06410.
