She was a native of DeRidder before moving to Moss Bluff, LA to be closer to her family. Louise retired from Boise Southern as a mechanic after 18 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder where she enjoyed volunteering and was a member of the Altar Society. She adored her family and raised her two children as a single mother. Louise loved making rosaries for the church to donate. Louise had a loving spirit and was a second mother to many.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David Barber and companion Amy Gerard of Moss Bluff; her daughter, Angie Barber of Carlyss; her granddaughter, Tara Pickle and husband Lane of Sulphur; two great-grandsons, Austin Smith and Landon Pickle; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Elizabeth Simmons and Wanda Allen.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Reverend Monsignor Daniel A. Torres will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. and will resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Newlin Cemetery in Singer, LA under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonsulphurmemorial.com
