Davey L Johnson

He was a native of Kiowa, Kansas, was raised in Fairview, Oklahoma, and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1978, moving from Corpus Christi, Texas. Davey was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying golfing and fishing. He was an active member and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher with Houston River Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margaret Myrtle Johnson of Sulphur; his sons, David Allen Johnson and wife, Sandra of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas and Donald Lee Johnson and wife, Donna of Conroe, Texas; his sister, Barbara Simcik and husband, Victor of Corpus Christi, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, Christi Spossey and husband, Mark of Pearland, Texas, Craig Johnson and wife, Heather of Conroe, Texas, Eric Johnson and wife, Veronica of New Haven, Connecticut, Kevin Johnson and wife, Laura of San Antonio, Texas, Donald Johnson Jr and wife, Diane of Torrance, California, Nikki Moore of Conroe, Texas, Lindsey Inman and husband, Ron of Houston, Texas, Jason Jennings and wife, Heather of Broomfield, Colorado, Amy Carlson of Baton Rouge, Cody Marshall and wife, Casey of Sulphur, Chris Marshall of Sulphur, Dustin Johnson and wife, Laura of Sulphur, and Devin Johnson and fiance', Caitlen Patin of Sulphur; and twenty great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Myrtle Johnson; a son, Daryl Lynn Johnson; a brother, Joe Johnson; and sisters, Hattie Fulghum and Charlotte Mason.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, in Houston River Baptist Church. The Rev. Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Burial will be in McFatter Cemetery in Dequincy under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Dustin Johnson, Devin Johnson, Donald Johnson Jr, Eric Johnson, Scotty Taylor, and Joe Vidrine. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home and will resume at 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the church.
