SULPHUR — Clarence Fontenot, 82, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, in a local hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of the Lake Charles—Sulphur area. Clarence was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and was a longtime member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 106. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and listening to Cajun music.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Genevieve Fontenot; his son, David Fontenot and wife Shelli, all of Sulphur; two sisters, Jean Deen of LaGrange, Ga., and Helen Lewis of Bossier City; three grandchildren, Robert Fontenot, Andrew Fontenot and Ashley Murphy; and two great-grandchildren, Daven Murphy and Layken Murphy.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Willie Bellard will officiate. Burial will be in Istre Cemetery in Morse. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
