He was a native of Dry Prong, Louisiana and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 52 years. Buddy was a 1951 graduate of Dry Prong High School and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was a member of Boulevard Church of Christ. He retired after 31 years of service as an electrician with P.P.G. Buddy could play anything with strings but especially enjoyed playing the guitar and mandolin. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bernice Brooks of Sulphur; his three children, Charles Eugene Brooks and wife, Karla of Sulphur, Scott Anthony Brooks and wife, Tracy of Walker, and Christina Michelle Brooks Lazo and husband, Richard of Sulphur; two sisters, Mildred Martin and Mary Martin, both of Dry Prong; grandchildren, Lee, Tessa, Josh, Elise, Briana, Michael, David, Candace, Richie, and Dillon; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Henry and Tressie Brooks; his son, Robert Dale "Bob" Brooks; his brother, P.H. "Dobber" Brooks, Jr; and his grandson, Shane Carson Brooks.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 5, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Minister Jason Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery at Big Woods.
