Cecile "Cil" Welch, 93, of Hackberry, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 2, 1930 in Manchester, Louisiana. In 1946, she married the love of her life and moved to Hackberry, where she lived for 73 years. In 2021, she moved to Carlyss, where she lived for the past two years.
More than anything, her family is what she cherished the most. One of her greatest hobbies was her ceramic shop in Hackberry that she had for many, many years. Another one of her greatest talents was her love for cooking. She also loved her plants and flowers. Cecile loved visiting with anyone who would stop by. She was a blessing to many and loved by all that knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Ernest John Welch (Ruby) of Mittie, Louisiana, Evana Faye O'Quinn (Danny) of Sulphur, Louisiana, Martha Jane Pine (Ernest) of Sulphur, Louisiana, Glenda Ann Stelly (Timothy) of Sulphur, Louisiana, and Glenn Andrew Welch (Betsy) of Hackberry, Louisiana; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; along with two great-great grandchildren.
Cecile is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ernest "Tot" Welch; her parents, Evana and Ferdinand Christ; and her step dad, John Trump; three brothers; two sisters; and a grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry, Louisiana on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 10:00 am, with Father Arvind Minz officiating. Visitation will be at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Hall on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm.
Visitation will resume on Monday, from 8:00 am until the time of the Mass at the church. Burial will follow at Hackberry Community Cemetery in Hackberry, Louisiana.
