He has resided in Sulphur for 23 years serving as Sr. District Account Manager for Nalco. He attended First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), is an alumnus of North Caddo High School in Vivian and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and past member of Endymion Krewe of New Orleans. Billy was an avid outdoorsman who possessed a true passion for duck hunting and fishing in the cypress bayous of north Louisiana. He was a loyal Saints and LSU Football fan, loved to read and also enjoyed Louisiana Mardi Gras. Famous for his duck gumbo, Billy found great pleasure in cooking for family and friends. For the past nine years, he embraced being “Paw Paw” and cherished every moment spent with his precious grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Cindy Godare Cox; son, Clinton Cox and his wife Melissa Marnich Cox of Lake Charles; father, Thomas Peace of Oil City; mother-in-law, JoAnn Godare of Sulphur; four brothers, James Peace and Michael Peace of Oil City, Jimmy Cox of Diana, Texas, Glen Peace of Baton Rouge; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jody and Tim Ince, Lisa and Jack Hansen, Becky and Todd Stein, and Rick and Chris Godare, all of Sulphur; four grandsons, Gabriel, Mason, Cannon and Cameron Cox, all of Lake Charles; close cousin, Ricky Johnson; special friends, Cindy and Dick Briody and their family; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by, his son, Kevin Brandon Cox; mother, Juanita Rochelle Peace; father-in-law, Dick Godare; and two sisters, Jeanette Coleman and Donna Tennis.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m Saturday, September 14 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Kenneth Hooper will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m Friday September 13 and also on Saturday from 9 a.m until the time of service. Honorary pallbearers will be Clinton Cox, Gabriel Cox, Ricky Johnson, Dick Briody, James Pearce, Tim Ince, Rick Godare, Todd Stein, and Jack Hansen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 1401 Argin Dr., Sulphur.
