William Dee Leavitt

Bill was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 5, 1945. He married Cheryl Reeves for Time and all Eternity on July 26, 1967. They are the parents of six children: Cherlynn Leavitt Petersen, William Dee, Jr., Bryan Thomas, Bradley Allen, Brent Cameron, and Blaine Christopher. They also have seventeen grandchildren: Kristen, Scott, Ashley, Brandon, Alexis, Lauren, Chancelor, Hannah, Connor, Cameron, Katherine, David, Victoria, Elizabeth, Ethan, Emma, and Simon.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Cameron Dee Leavitt, his sister Jeanne Leavitt Salmon, and his brother Mark Cameron Leavitt, who died in infancy. He is survived by his mother Lyle Isabelle Coon, his brother Richard Allen Leavitt, and his sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Leavitt Salmon, Judy Leavitt Booher, Deanne Leavitt Dunn, and Sheila Leavitt.

Beginning in 1964, Bill served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicating two years of his life to serving the people of the Andes Mission in South America. He later served in the United States Army Infantry and was assigned to Vietnam, where he served with distinction. In 1972 he graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Spanish and accepted a position with the Travelers Insurance company, beginning a long career in the insurance industry, allowing him to enjoy a number of assignments in various places nationwide.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11:00 am in the LDS Houston South Stake Center at 14555 Lexington Blvd in Sugar Land. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution be made to the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry. Failing that, please remind your loved ones that “it will feel better when it stops hurting."
