

Susanne McFarlin Grigsby entered life on January 9, 1930, and departed life March 22, 2025, at age 95. She was a 74-year-old resident of Dumas, TX, before moving to Sugar Land, TX, in late 2021.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sat., March 29, at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church Dumas, TX, with Pastor Matthew Price officiating the service.
Susanne was born in Rogers County, Oklahoma, on a ranch north of Inola, Oklahoma. Susanne was the second child and oldest daughter of nine children of Joe and Edith Adams McFarlin. She graduated as valedictorian from Inola High School in 1946 at the age of 16, and moved to Dumas, TX, in 1947 where she worked for the original First State Bank for 3 years. On September 7, 1950, Susanne married Charles Marvin Grigsby and became a stay-at-home wife and mother after the birth of their first son.
Susanne has been a member of First Baptist Church over 60 years where she worked in the Bereavement Ministry for many years as well as helping with various other programs at the church. She was a past volunteer with the American Cancer Society, Moore County Senior Center, and Moore County Food Pantry.
Susanne was preceded in death by Charles Marvin Grigsby (1989), son, Bruce (1992), 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
The grand matriarch of the family will be remembered and loved by son, Ronald (Darlene) Grigsby, son, Ray Allen Grigsby, daughter, Sandra (William) Vautrain, grandsons Jeffrey (Karla) Grigsby, Scott (Bailey) Vautrain, Austin Vautrain, and great granddaughters, Emily Grigsby and Edith Vautrain. She is survived by brothers-in-law, Tommy Turner and Jay Stanford, and sisters-in-law, Georgia McFarlin and Von Dell Grigsby, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
