Susan Ruth Guillory Fahey passed away peacefully in her home on January 1, 2024, in Sugar Land, Texas at the age of 72. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Guillory; husband, Phillip Fahey; and sister, Cheryl Burvant. She is survived by her sons, Patrick (Yasmyn) and Colin (Isela Pachicano); grandchildren, Alexander, Peter, and Amelia; siblings, Allen Guillory, Ramona Patin, and Nancy Guillory; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were an important and beloved part of her life. Susan, known as Sue since childhood, was born on January 29, 1951, in Opelousas, Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana State University in 1973 with a degree in English and began working for Vinson & Elkins LLP in 1977, where she eventually retired as Chief Human Resources Officer. She married Phillip Fahey in 1978, and over time the couple welcomed two sons into their family.
Sue was passionate about animals and loved to spoil her pets. There were many furry friends who joined the family over the years, especially dogs. She enjoyed shopping for antiques, gardening, and spending quality time with her loved ones. Her children remember her as a loving mother who always encouraged them and never hesitated to support their dreams. As an unfailingly kind woman who was filled with life, she will be missed dearly.
A memorial service is scheduled for January 12 at 2:00 PM at The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek in Sugar Land, Texas with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, Sue’s favorite animal organization.
